What is creasote?

Creosote is caused by incomplete combustion or unburned wood.  It is a tar-like substance that is a potential hazard and is extremely flammable and can cause chimney fires.  There are three steps to keep your chimney clean and safe from creosote:

  • Burn hard woods that are dry and seasoned.

  • Frequently use a creosote destroyer through-out the burning season.

  • Clean you chimney once a year or more depending on your use.
